05.10.09 Mother's Day Brunch Cruise

Happy Mother's Day everyone!

Only got 4 1/2 hours of sleep...6:30am-11am.

Woke up, showered and got dressed for our Mother's Day Brunch Cruise in Stillwater, MN!

We picked up my mom and sister and headed out to Stillwater. Arrived at 1:15pm and I ran to get our reserved tickets while everyone else got in line to board the boat. We boarded the boat and got a great table next to the window on the second floor! The boat left at 1:30pm and we took many pictures while we were out on the deck...

The Avalon!

The Jazz Band was great! They made the cruise such a joy!!!

We had fun taking photos out on the deck...the boat has three floors, I was pretty much only thinking about how to keep my skirt from blowing up as we were exploring the boat.

At 2pm the buffet was on. My first plate was a summer spinach salad with blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, red onion and almonds. Also had some cantaloupe, pineapple, strawberries and watermelon.

My last plate was nice and meaty! Carved roast beef, bruschetta chicken, baked cod with tartar sauce and a pumpernickel roll.

The brunch cruise finished at 4:30pm so we loaded up and headed over to Wallyworld to pick up some ice cream and milk to go with the beautiful Chocolate Fudge Mother's Day Cake my sister made! She works at Sam's Club and they decorated 500 cakes yesterday!

Got back to our house by 5pm and we had cake, ice cream and milk then opened presents. We got my mom $100 in gift certificates to Belladerm Medspa in Maple Grove, MN...oh la la.

For dinner I made myself two pitas: each with 3 slices Hormel Natural Roast Beef, Tbsp Tribe Roasted Garlic Hummus, half of a shredded Trader Joe's Light String Cheese Stick and 1 1/2 cups of Spinach. Also made myself a bowl of cottage cheese with a half cup of Land O'Lakes 1% Probiotic Brand and some Del Monte NSA peaches. Drank a glass of water with my meal.

02.19.09 Quick Breakfast, Lunch after my Grandpa's Funeral Service & Dinner at Old Country Buffet

For a quick breakfast I ate an Atkins Chocolate Chip Granola Bar.

I did not photograph my food for the rest of the day.

We picked up my mom at 8am and arrived at the church around 9am and met my sister and her boyfriend there. My grandpa arrived at the church around 9:15am and the pastor and church staff helped us setup photos and made sure everything looked very nice. From 10am to 11am was the open casket showing and it was terribly sad. The service celebrating his life took place at 11am to around noon and it was a very honorable and beautiful service...the pastor was very well-spoken. The pallbearers brought his coffin to the hearse while we all listened to the tolling bells.

Had a small luncheon with salad, turkey and roast beef half sandwiches, Gardetto's snack mix, lemonade, coffee and the gorgeous sheet cake my sister made in my grandpa's honor. I ate two small plates of salad, one half turkey and one half roast beef sandwich, a half cup of Gardetto's snack mix, two glasses of lemonade and two small pieces of cake.

Left at 1pm to head over to Fort Snelling Cemetery for his Interment. It was a very respectful service and it was hard to say goodbye to him. May he rest in peace.

Afterwards we headed to a gas station because my sister's breaks on her Mitubishi Eclipse were acting strange and Dave determined that the brake pads were terribly worn and needed to be replaced.

We dropped my mom off at home and headed back home ourselves and changed clothes and decided to go to Old Country Buffet because we didn't feel like cooking after the funeral.

I ate a small taco salad, a plate of fish and green beans, a plate of steak with zucchini and peppers, a no sugar added chocolate mouuse, and a bowl of nonfat frozen yogurt with no sugar added apples mixed in.

Went home and didn't feel like doing much the rest of the evening.

02.07.09 Dinner Catered by Green Mill at the Plymouth Playhouse

Left work at 3:45pm and went home and got dressed for the party. I wore a Navy Blue Rachel Pally Dress and Dave wore a very nice sweater.

We left around 4:30pm and didn't get out to Plymouth until 5:20pm. From 5:30pm until 6pm it was social and we greeted my boss Larry and his wife JoAnn and sat at the table with the HP3000 folks and sales reps...Dan B and his wife, Dan H and his wife, Steve, and Richard. There was some interesting conversation taking place.

It was time to eat dinner at 6pm. There was a lovely catered buffet set out for us. Antipasto, Caesar Salad, Bread & Butter, Shrimp Linguini, Roasted Potatoes, Roasted Vegetables, Steamed Rice, Turkey with Gravy and Roast Beef with Gravy.

For my first plate I plated about a cup of antipasto, some caesar salad, about 2 cups of roasted veggies, 2 slices turkey breast and 2 slices of roast beef with minimal gravy on them. Had a Diet Coke with the meal.

Went up for a second plate with about 2 cups of veggies and 2 slices of turkey breast. Drank my ice water.

For my two plates l I estimated on FitDay (1300 calories, 35g fat, 37g fiber, 112g protein)

After we were done eating dinner it is customary to draw for gift cards...there are many $10 ones, lots of $25 ones and not so many $50 ones, and only 3 $100 ones and there must have been about 100 or so coworkers there.

We had to walk up to the front and announce who we were, who we brought and what department we worked in. I went up to draw and got a $25 gift card to SuperAmerica. Dave drew a $25 gift card to JCPenney's...then I confiscated it...since I'm the war department;)

Then around 7:30pm we headed down to get seated for the show...Church Basement Ladies: A Second Helping.

It was an outrageously hilarious play about a pastor and four church ladies, a really old granny, a nosey farm wife, a mother in her 50's and her recently married, pregnant daughter. Pictures weren't allowed in the theater.  Lots of typical Minnesotan Lutheran Church lady humor. We laughed so much we couldn't feel our cheeks after the play.

After the play we went back up for after dinner drinks and dessert. I had a Diet Coke and passed on the dessert since there were very large portions and even if I had split it with Dave I wouldn't feel too great afterwards.

Since there were still two sets of $25 gift cards and one $100 gift card we put our name tags in a bucket for drawing...and I actually won another $25 gift card to Holiday and another $25 gift card to JCPenney's! I was so excited!

Then it was time to go and we said our goodbyes to the coworkers we sat with and my boss and his wife. They always throw an excellent party!

Headed back home and stopped at Dave's mom's place and visited her for about a half hour since it was pretty late. She loved the dress and earrings I was wearing. She thought Dave looked pretty spiffy too.

Ended up getting home around midnite...since I passed on the dessert at the party I dished myself up a cup of Edy's No Sugar Added Cookies N' Cream:) (240cal, 9g fat, 4g fiber, 6g protein) This brings my calories to 2,300 for today...we'll see how the scale reflects tomorrow morning;)

Only getting 5 hours of sleep tonight...but it was well worth it!
